When Clients Can’t Get There, They Can’t Get Better — We Remove That Barrier

Recovery and reentry programs only work if people can get to them.
At In The Gap Academy, we understand that transportation is not just a practical issue — it’s a matter of dignity, access, and survival. Too many treatment programs are built with the assumption that people can drive, afford rides, or easily navigate public transit. But for many of our clients — especially those reentering from incarceration, living in poverty, or managing chronic instability — just showing up is half the battle.
Our Transportation Assistance Program is designed to eliminate that barrier. We make sure clients can get to treatment, meet court requirements, access housing appointments, attend job interviews, and reconnect with community support systems — consistently and confidently.
Because healing can’t happen if people can’t get in the door.

What Our Buyers Believe — and Why This Program Aligns

You believe access is non-negotiable.

If a program isn’t truly accessible, it isn’t truly equitable. We agree — and we act on it.

You believe engagement matters more than attendance

Clients don’t just need to check a box. They need to arrive present, prepared, and open. That starts with removing avoidable stress.

You believe transportation is foundational to outcomes.

Missed rides lead to missed appointments, which lead to missed opportunities — and too often, repeat offenses or relapse. We intervene before that spiral begins.

You believe in removing systemic barriers — not reinforcing them.

Clients shouldn’t be penalized for the failures of the systems around them. We provide proactive, respectful support that makes participation possible.

This isn’t about offering handouts. It’s about giving people the tools and support they need to reclaim their future.

What We Provide — and Why It Works

Route Planning & Transit Navigation

We help clients map safe, realistic routes to treatment, court, housing, and job interviews. For many, this includes:

Why it matters:

Many clients are using public transit for the first time, or after years of incarceration or isolation. They don’t need to be told “just take the bus.” They need someone to show them how — with patience and without judgment.

Rides to Critical Appointments

In certain cases, we coordinate or provide direct transportation for high-risk clients — especially for:

Why it matters:

The first few weeks of engagement are fragile. One missed ride can lead to disengagement — which often leads to relapse or incarceration. We remove that risk.

Subsidized Transit Passes

We provide weekly or monthly bus passes to clients actively participating in programs and services, and assist with access to local subsidies when available.

Why it matters:

Even a $5 fare is a barrier when you’re choosing between groceries and gas. A bus pass can be the difference between staying in the program or dropping out.

We keep clients engaged and compliant.

Missed appointments don’t become missed opportunities — or missed chances in court.

image

We provide documentation and communication.

If transportation issues come up, we communicate quickly and clearly with probation officers, case managers, and courts.

image

We increase treatment completion rates.

Reliable transportation supports long-term engagement, higher attendance, and more successful discharges.

We don’t judge — we support.

Clients often hide their struggles with transportation out of shame. We normalize the need — and provide a solution.

Let’s Take the First Step Together

Most clients who come to us have tried other programs — and left feeling judged, dismissed, or stuck. What makes ITG Academy different is that we don’t just treat the symptoms. We treat the systemic barriers holding people back.
You don’t have to do this alone. And you don’t have to settle for less. ITG Academy offers treatment that transforms — because we treat the whole person.
